Your Guide to Buying Tritoons
Tritoon boats are a type of pontoon boat that have three hollow aluminum tubes (called “pontoons”) below their decks, instead of the standard two tubes. This additional tube creates added stability and provides more storage space for your watersports or fishing gear. Tritoons also tend to be quite roomy so they’re great for large groups of boaters. Here’s what you need to think about when shopping for your own tritoon boat.
What Size?
First, consider what size of tritoon boat you’ll need. While tritoon boats tend to be quite expansive to begin with, there are still several different sizes. Typically, the passenger capacity for a tritoon boat falls between 14 and 25 people at once.
Obviously, the type of water you choose to boat in will have an impact on how large of a tritoon you should buy. You don’t want to get a model that’s too large for a narrow river, for example.
Which Features?
Think about how you would like to use your tritoon boat. Different tritoon manufacturers offer a range of features that make their tritoons better for entertaining, fishing, or for towing watersports participants. Make a list of which features matter most to you, whether that’s an enclosed cabin, a sound system, a wet bar, or swivel seats, so you can look for models that will give you what you want.
